  • The Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (Sigtarp) said Treasury was not meeting its responsibility
  • for monitoring how insurer AIG, Bank of America, Chrysler, Citigroup, GM and GMAC use bailout funds.

"Twenty months into its administration of TARP,

  • Treasury simply has no legitimate excuses as to why it has still failed to accomplish the critically important task of
  • assembling a robust compliance staff," the audit report said.

It said Treasury was "too slow" in conducting compliance reviews with the companies and said

Sigtarp recommended that Treasury independently test whether the companies were living up to conditions that they agreed in return for getting bailout money and repeated that it needs to build up its staff quickly to monitor TARP funds' use.

  • In a response attached to the Sigtarp report, Treasury said it strongly disagreed with suggestions it was not adequately protecting taxpayers' interests but said it accepted the recommendation about the need for more compliance staff."

Richard Nixon created the EPA. Beware all politicians.

  • 6/30, American Thinker, V. Kohlmayer
"Nicholas Sarkozy and Angela Merkel are often cited as examples of resurgence of the political right in Europe. This is surely a joke. Even as we speak, the people of France and Germany are being taxed blind. The public sector is large and oppressive in both countries.
  • Yet Sarkozy and Merkel are blithely unbothered by this. Quite to the contrary, they just keep piling on. Last Friday, it was announced that the Sarkozy government would be further increasing taxes in France. Some conservatives, indeed. Now they are joined by
  • Britain's David Cameron -- another "conservative" -- whose first significant domestic act was to raise the country's sales tax.
To think of the European political paradigm in terms of right and left is simply wrong.
In Europe, there are only greater statists and smaller statists. They both grow government and raise taxes. The only difference is the pace at which they are doing it.

Even though this may surprise some, the same dynamic is increasingly applicable to the United States as well.
  • The difference between Republicans and Democrats is only in degree, not in kind. They differ only in
  • the pace at which they spend and grow government.
Democrats are greater statists, and Republicans are smaller statists. But it is a close call. George Bush grew government more than Bill Clinton did. He also started us on the bailout frenzy. Tellingly, most congressional Republicans voted in support."...
(continuing): "Bush 41 likewise did a good job of government expansion. Besides growing government, he also raised taxes.
  • Richard Nixon was another great expansionist.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Council on Environmental Quality were all his creations."
The EPA is now the handiest weapon the left could dream of. ed.

Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove, Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee must be avoided

  • They are well described as "Media Republicans," half smart in making media their partner.
***We must have someone happy to withstand massive media attacks and ridicule. One hundred percent of the time, no exceptions. (The embedded Beltway class is strictly focused on media approval).
  • 6/28, American Thinker:
"Gingrich, Romney, Rove, and Huckabee are trying to seduce the conservative movement into another dance with a newly found conservatism. If any of their ilk get elected, we will have "socialism, more slowly."
Palin, the Tea Party, Bachmann are the real deal.
  • We must always remember how we got here -- looking at national bankruptcy. It was with "compassionate," "kinder, gentler" modifier conservatives
  • who found conservatism when the wind blew that way....
The changes needed in America today are not a matter of degree; they are a matter of kind. The entire American mindset must fundamentally change away from democratic socialism and toward individual self-reliance.
The changes needed in America require saying "no" in a big way and being vilified in the press. Our leaders need to be able to
  • stand up to massive left-wing media resistance and not compromise the core. "...
from article, "Rolling the conservative movement: Seduction on the Right," by Jay Valentine
  • Sean Hannity is as big a problem as Newt Gingrich for the excessive attention he pays him. I'm aware Rush Limbaugh is good friends with Karl Rove, a piece of information I found sickening. Most of the time Rush gives good information and commentary, but I consider Karl Rove one of the main reasons we have Obama. ed.
P.S. It goes with saying that John McCain is in the same class with George Soros and will ensure we have Obama again given the chance. *I recently read the term 'Media Republicans' and thought it quite descriptive.

Obama lectures other countries about problems for which he is to blame -Financial Times

were it not for the fact that
  • (a) poor US financial regulation and inattentive monetary policy caused the crisis in the first place, and
  • (b) its own fiscal policy is a shambles.
President Barack Obama
  • is telling other countries to maintain fiscal stimulus even as his own fades
  • and the US Congress is denying his modest requests for extra spending. For this,

He and his allies in Congress bungled last year’s stimulus. A big package was needed, and was duly delivered. But its design was poor: too much spending on shovel-ready projects that weren’t; too little in tax cuts. It was seriously oversold, leaving voters sceptical that more stimulus would do any good. Worst of all, with public debt through the roof, the administration has failed to give the smallest sign of its exit strategy.

  • Last week its budget director, Peter Orszag, disclosed his own. He said he was quitting; colleagues said (though he denied) that he was frustrated by White House indecision over medium-term fiscal control."...

We must speak to our liberal relatives despite the anger and abuse it will bring

have done it but after 18 months of Obama rule, I thought perhaps that my liberal friends and family might have begun to have their own doubts about Obama. So I sent off the American Thinker article entitled "So What's a Patriot to Do? Confront a Liberal Today" by Kyle-Anne Shiver.
  • It was not a good bonding moment.
I received in reply the following retort.
I can't help but think that all this criticism of Obama is really disguised
racism

just like criticism of Israel is disguised anti-Semitism.
Whereupon I sent back Shelby Steele's article entitled "Israel and the Surrender of the West" as well as the list of articles written by Lloyd Marcus. I also asked my relative why Holder dismissed the case where Black Panthers intimidated voters in a clear cut (it is on You Tube) case of voter intimidation?

It got better. My other relative responded with,
  • So...what's next on your "to do" list? Join the NRA? Privatize Social Security?
Seriously, can we please just agree to disagree? And can you please not send us these sorts of emails anymore? I'm not going to change your mind; you are not going to change ours.
Signed,

Your Out Gay, New York City Apartment Dwelling, Registered Democrat, Anti-War, Atheist, Pacifist, PROUDLY LIBERAL Brother.

In a last ditch effort I wrote back the following:

Dear

It is precisely because you and ____ are gay that Obama scares me.
  • He surrounds himself with people who are true believers in sharia law (Rashid Khalidi, Dalia Mogahed, and Rashad Hussain). Sharia law clearly states that gays are to be stoned.
In fact, Elana Kagan has some explaining to do ~ while she appears to want to end the "don't tell" rule, she accepted money from the Saudis when she was at Harvard. That is hypocritical. I still recall when the prince of Saudi Arabia gave Giuliani "blood money" right after 9-11. Giuliani declined it because he knew full well that the Wahabbi Saudis were and are the guiding light and source of money to terrorists.

I am also extremely concerned with the clear tilt toward jihadists that Obama has made since he became president. His alleged peaceful offers to Iran, for example, have only emboldened Ahmadinejad. The idea that a mosque will be built on the site of the WTC is offensive to me and is a clear threat to my "New York City Apartment Dwelling Brother." If the individual in charge of this mosque, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, were truly a moderate, I would not have a problem but his record shows otherwise.

I am not comfortable with guns so I am unlikely to be joining the NRA.
I have been a democrat, a republican and an independent. I vote for the person, not the party.

I am anti-war except when my country is attacked and then I do see the need to defend it.

Pacifism is great until the nuke is headed your way and Iran's leader keeps threatening Israel (little Satan) and America (big Satan) with annihilation and destruction. In fact, Jose Maria Aznar, former Prime Minister of Spain penned a piece "Support Israel: if it goes down, we all go down--Anger over Gaza is a distraction."

Liberalism in its classical sense is all about less government intervention, not more. Obviously, some government intervention is necessary ~ eventually Mom was going to need federal money [for the nursing home] when her own funds ran dry. But Obama has increased the deficit (which Bush had, unfortunately, begun) to unsustainable levels. The country will not be able to pay for any of the programs. No country can spend more than it makes. Thus, rationing will occur. Health care will be reduced and we will not be able to invest in research and development of new drugs and new medical devices.

Look at Greece and Spain. They are drowning in debt and are on the verge of collapse. Germany's Merkel has already told Obama that he is headed in the wrong direction economically.
I am not at odds with you personally; I just believe that too
  • many details are being omitted in the regular media.
The standard media outlets have, for the most part, abdicated their responsibility to tell all the information.

Certainly, I have become more educated, enlightened, and concerned as I have learned to read beyond The New York Times. The facts are the facts. All I ask is that you regularly check (online) the Wall Street Journal; IBDeditorials; FrontPage, Act for America; and Caroline Glick's and Charles Krauthammer's columns -- also available online. Read books by Nonie Darwish, Robert Spencer and Brigitte Gabriel. Darwish lived in Egypt for 30 years and speaks from firsthand experience about rule under a closed Moslem society--her own father was a shaheed (martyr); Robert Spencer has ferreted out information about the infiltration of extreme jihadism in this country and Brigitte Gabriel has written how she, as a Lebanese Christian was forced to flee her country because of the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah. She has adopted America and is passionate about warning Americans of the impending dangers of radical Islam.

Moreover, Obama has said that [he] "is a Muslim" (see Pamela Geller in American Thinker).

I don't wrap my head in any flag. Of course, there are warts in this country, but we fix them. I am disgusted with some events that occur in Israel (women being denied access to the Wall; haredi intolerance; and the ongoing agunah situation. Living in a theocracy such as Israel would be difficult. I am not afraid to speak out about these problems but to ignore the genuine existential threat to Israel is beyond my comprehension.

Would I actually endure anger and verbal abuse if I didn't really think this were important?

Historian Martin Gilbert once said that Winston Churchill never considered himself a great man because by the time he was finally elected, it was only because no one had listened to him earlier when he warned Great Britain of the impending terror of the National Socialist German Workers Party of Nazi Germany. Instead Neville Chamberlain appeased the tyrant and the war became a certainty, killing millions. Though I certainly do not compare myself to Churchill, I ardently believe that the alarm

11 year old Conservative, Sam Besserman, reports what goes on in California schools (instead of education)

UPDATE: Sam Besserman appeared on KIRO radio Thursday, 7/1, per American Thinker. Podcast. I listened to it. The host, a Mr. Monson, rambles a minute or two before getting into the interview. Sam's persona on the phone matches his writing. I will admit his reference to memories before the age of 5 are more than a little unusual. He would have to be a rare genius type child for his recollections to be accurate.
  • ***One eleven year old does not succumb to ridicule.
  • 6/27, American Thinker: "My name is Sam Besserman, I'm eleven years old, I live in Beverly Hills, California, and ever since I can remember I have been subjected to political bias in school.
The first time I noticed the bias was actually in preschool where the teacher was reading a book about the importance of mothers and the inferiority of fathers. I tried to tell the teacher that dads might be just as important. The teacher responded in a sing-song, "No, listen to me, I'm the teacher." Of course, the girls loved the book and most of the boys hated it, except for a few who liked it and also wanted to become mothers some day. I was three years old and royally pissed off.
  • I had to listen to such feminist ideas every day and, at times, I actually bought into them. Months later, I still didn't know whether mothers were really more important than fathers. Once I even felt like going into the bathroom and trying to pull off my penis. It wasn't that I wanted to be a woman, I had just lost my enthusiasm for my embattled gender.
The only male teacher I had might as well have been castrated. His voice was soft, his gestures were feminine, he didn't know how to run a class and he had to rely on female assistant teachers to control the children. And, of course, the female teachers treated the girls ten times better than the boys and constantly reminded us of our alleged inferiority."...

African American Republican Isaac Hayes running to defeat Jesse Jackson Jr. in Illinois 2nd cd

Earning the endorsement of the Kankakee City News, an African-American-owned newspaper with a circulation of 37,000, Editor James Taylor, Sr. keenly noted the obvious:
Mr. Hayes may have a difficult time convincing the majority to cast a vote for a Republican, but we also recognize that the high unemployment, street and gang violence and underserved schools and communities all have occurred under the representation of Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.
City News had previously been a long-time endorser of Jackson's reelection campaigns.
Nevertheless, Hayes remains on the front lines of the Democratic firing squad, fighting in territory where uncontested liberalism pervades the citizenry like a bad rash. But he's fighting.
  • At a community networking event in April, Hayes and his staff were booted by a bombastic local Democratic mayor (a contributor and vocal supporter of Jackson's). Despite Hayes and his staff's invitation to the event, the local official dismissed Hayes,
  • calling him a "sellout" and just "another Alan Keyes."
"The way my staff and I were treated by the mayor is reminiscent of the 1950s, with a 'No Republicans Allowed' sign," Hayes responded. He later remarked in a statement that the incident "only reinforces my complaint that I was discriminated against because of my political views."
  • Regardless of the vile racial overtones, such insolence directed towards Republicans is the norm in Chicago."...

Inside the Black Panther case from DOJ attorney-"payback time"

6/25, "Citizens would be shocked to learn about the
  • open and pervasive hostility within the Justice Department to bringing civil rights cases
  • against nonwhite defendants on behalf of white victims....
On the day President Obama was elected, armed men wearing the black berets and jackboots of the New Black Panther Party were stationed at the entrance to a polling place in Philadelphia.
  • They brandished a weapon and intimidated voters and poll watchers.
  • After the election, the Justice Department brought a voter-intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party and those armed thugs. I and other Justice attorneys diligently pursued the case and obtained an entry of default after the defendants ignored the charges.
Before a final judgment could be entered in May 2009, our superiors ordered us to dismiss the case.
  • The New Black Panther case was the simplest and most obvious violation of federal law I saw in my Justice Department career.

Because of the corrupt nature of the dismissal, statements falsely characterizing the case and, most of all, indefensible

  • orders for the career attorneys
  • not to comply with lawful subpoenas investigating the dismissal,

The federal voter-intimidation statutes we used against the New Black Panthers were enacted because America never realized genuine racial equality in elections. Threats of violence characterized elections from the end of the Civil War until the passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965. Before the Voting Rights Act, blacks seeking the right to vote, and those aiding them, were victims of violence and intimidation. But unlike the Southern legal system, Southern violence did not discriminate. Black voters were slain, as were the white champions of their cause. Some of the bodies were tossed into bogs and in one case in Philadelphia, Miss., they were buried together in an earthen dam.

  • Based on my firsthand experiences, I believe the dismissal of the Black Panther case was motivated by a lawless hostility toward equal enforcement of the law. Others still within the department share my assessment. The department abetted wrongdoers and abandoned law-abiding citizens victimized by the New Black Panthers.

The dismissal raises serious questions about the department's enforcement neutrality in upcoming midterm elections and the subsequent 2012 presidential election.

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights has opened an investigation into the dismissal and the DOJ's skewed enforcement priorities. Attorneys who brought the case are under subpoena to testify,

The assistant attorney general for civil rights, Tom Perez, has testified repeatedly that the "facts and law" did not support this case. That claim is false. If the actions in Philadelphia do not constitute voter intimidation, it is hard to imagine what would, short of an actual outbreak of violence at the polls. Let's all hope this administration has not invited that outcome through the corrupt dismissal.

  • Most corrupt of all, the lawyers who ordered the dismissal - Loretta King, the Obama-appointed acting head of the Civil Rights Division, and Steve Rosenbaum -
  • did not even read the internal Justice Department memorandums supporting the case and investigation.
Just as Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. admitted that he did not read the Arizona immigration law before he condemned it,
  • Mr. Rosenbaum admitted that he had not bothered to read the most important department documents detailing the investigative facts and applicable law in the New Black Panther case.
Christopher Coates, the former Voting Section chief, was so outraged at this dereliction of responsibility that he actually threw the memos at Mr. Rosenbaum in the meeting where they were discussing the dismissal of the case. The department subsequently removed all of Mr. Coates' responsibilities and sent him to South Carolina.

Mr. Perez also inaccurately testified to the House Judiciary Committee that federal "Rule 11" required the dismissal of the lawsuit. Lawyers know that Rule 11 is an ethical obligation to bring only meritorious claims, and such a charge by Mr. Perez

  • effectively challenges the ethics and professionalism of the five attorneys who commenced the case. Yet the attorneys who brought the case were voting rights experts and would never pursue a frivolous matter.
  • Their experience in election law far surpassed the experience of the officials who ordered the dismissal.

Some have called the actions in Philadelphia an isolated incident, not worthy of federal attention. To the contrary,

  • the Black Panthers in October 2008 announced a nationwide deployment for the election.

We had indications that polling-place thugs were deployed elsewhere, not only in November 2008, but also during the Democratic primaries, where

  • they targeted white Hillary Rodham Clinton supporters. In any event, the law clearly
  • prohibits even isolated incidents of voter intimidation.

Others have falsely claimed that no voters were affected. Not only did the evidence rebut this claim, but the law does not require a successful effort to intimidate;

  • it punishes even the attempt.

Most disturbing, the dismissal is part of a creeping lawlessness infusing our government institutions. Citizens would be shocked to learn about the

  • open and pervasive hostility within the Justice Department to bringing civil rights cases
  • against nonwhite defendants on behalf of white victims.

Equal enforcement of justice is not a priority of this administration. Open contempt is voiced for these types of cases.

  • Some of my co-workers argued that the law should not be used against black wrongdoers because of the long history of slavery and segregation. Less charitable individuals
  • called it "payback time."

Incredibly, after the case was dismissed, instructions were given that no more cases against racial minorities like the Black Panther case would be brought by the Voting Section.

  • Refusing to enforce the law equally means some citizens are protected by the law while
  • others are left to be victimized, depending on their race.

Core American principles of equality before the law and freedom from racial discrimination are at risk. Hopefully, equal enforcement of the law is still a point of bipartisan, if not universal, agreement.

  • However, after my experience with the New Black Panther dismissal and the attitudes held by officials in the Civil Rights Division, I am beginning to fear the era of agreement over these core American principles has passed."

Obama NASA appointee Bolden investigated for oil company stock conflict of interest

"While millions of barrels of spilled oil choke the Gulf of Mexico, NASA is working on an ocean-based biofuels venture that could revolutionize clean-energy production at sea and treat wastewater at the same time....
  • NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden doesn't believe in (Project) OMEGA — and has sought to slow it down.
The reason: He was advised against it by Marathon Oil — the Texas-based company on whose board Bolden sat until he was named NASA administrator last year. The former astronaut and Marine Corps general also still holds as much as $1 million worth of Marathon stock.
  • So far, the project is proceeding without any signs of obvious interference, according to scientists and officials. But Bolden's decision to vet OMEGA with a company in which he has a significant financial interest —
  • and that also has invested in a competing biofuels proposal — has prompted an investigation by the NASA inspector general.
Bolden says he did nothing wrong, and his lawyers at NASA agree.
  • But government ethics watchdogs say Bolden should have steered clear of involvement with the project because of his ties to the industry and financial holdings.
"It definitely does not pass the smell test," said Melanie Sloan, executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics, who called Bolden's conversation "wholly inappropriate."
  • Bolden's action has infuriated the director of NASA's Ames Research Center in Mountain View, Calif., where the project is based. In an e-mail obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, Pete Worden, a former astronomy professor and retired Air Force general, angrily demanded an explanation."...

Obama freely admits refusal to enforce US law. It is the duty of congress to impeach him for this. We are waiting.

he recently had with Obama, one-on-one in the Oval Office. Kyl was speaking to a North Tempe town hall meeting on June 18, and relates Obama saying why he won't protect the US border. Cold Warrior at RedState.com transcribes Senator Kyl from video as he relates Obama's words:
There were gasps in the audience.

They don’t want to secure the border unless and until it is combined with ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’”"

In Chicago, Alan Dershowitz endorses a Republican for the first time in his life

--just under 72 years to be exact. But on Wednesday in Chicago, Dershowitz endorsed his former law student, Joel Pollak, the Republican candidate for Congress in Illinois' 9th district.
Dershowitz, who has taught U.S. Senators, Governors, and Congressmen,
  • described Pollak as the single most promising political talent he has ever met.
  • Dershowitz has for many years, been a passionate and dedicated supporter of Israel, and he has fought the growing sentiment among many liberal Jews and academics that Israel is the guilty party in the Middle East conflict. Dershowitz's endorsement of Pollak was
  • facilitated by the actions and positions of the incumbent Congresswoman whom Pollak is challenging.
Pollak is running against Jan Schakowsky, who has been closely connected to the Chicago and Illinois Democratic machine for her entire political career , whose voting record makes her one of the most left wing members of Congress, and who has willingly served as the queen bee of J-Street, the new group formed to give political cover to Barack Obama among liberal Jews as he pounds away at Israel. J-Street is a group that professes to be pro-Israel, and pro-peace,
  • but a close look at its public pronouncements during its brief two year history makes clear that its modus operandi has been to regularly attack the policies of the Israeli government, and back any and all pressure directed at Israel by the Obama administration.
Dershowitz was a supporter of Barack Obama in 2008, but he made clear in his remarks that Obama's policies with regard to Israel, and to the projection of American power abroad, were worrying him. He attacked the President's attachment to international organizations that are virulently anti-Israel, and often anti-Semitic. He cautioned that there was no substitute in the West for American leadership, and argued that America should stand with Israel, as it has for decades.
  • Dershowitz's biggest concern about Obama centered on Iran's nuclear program, and his fear that the US would stand aside, and allow Iran to become a nuclear power. He argued that a containment strategy designed to deter Iran after it became a nuclear power, would not work -- that a regime such as Iran's was fundamentally different from those the United States confronted in the Cold War, opponents who behaved rationally, and wanted to avoid a nuclear war.
Dershowitz said the Iran issue was the single most important issue for which Obama will be judged. If Iran succeeded in becoming a nuclear power, then Obama would be a colossal failure, regardless of any other achievements. Dershowitz hinted that in the future, he would be more open to supporting Republicans, particularly in races, where the Democratic nominees were so far out in left field that they were unable to understand or appreciate any of the strategic realities he had discussed.
  • Pollak spoke after Dershowitz, and rallied the sellout crowd in attendance by providing his own political biography, describing how he had made the journey from left to right, and why he was proud today to be running as a strong supporter of free markets and economic opportunity, of lower taxes and reduced government spending, and as an ardent backer of a strong US Israel relationship.
Jan Schakowsky's husband, felon Robert Creamer, served time in prison for writing bad checks while running a charity. While behind bars, he created the game plan for the "selling" of a health care reform bill, which of course Schakowsky championed. Pollak told the audience that he made the decision to run for Congress after
  • he overheard paid organizers for the group Health Care for America Now, operating in cahoots with Schakowsky, conspiring outside a Schakowsky town hall meeting about their plan to silence critics of the proposed health care reform bill at the event.
Voters in the 9th district will have a real choice this year, between the thuggish politics of Jan Schakowsky and the hard left, and a talented new comer -- Joel Pollak."...by Richard Baehr,

Sharp increase in new jobless claims, 6/17/10

  • Even after the Census Bureau hired 411,000 people. The AP doesn't mention this til the end of the article.
  • ***6/17, AP: "The number of people filing new claims for jobless benefits jumped last week after three straight declines, another
sign that the pace of layoffs has not slowed.
  • Initial claims for jobless benefits rose by 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted 472,000, the Labor Department said Thursday. It was the highest level in a month...
First-time jobless claims have hovered near 450,000 since the beginning of the year....
  • Economists say they will feel more optimistic that the economy is creating jobs once initial jobless claims fall below 425,000 per week....
The number of people continuing to claim benefits rose by 88,000 to 4.57 million. That doesn't include about 5.2 million people who receive extended benefits paid for by the federal government...
  • Adding to worries about the job market, the Labor Department said earlier this month that the economy generated
only 41,000 private-sector jobs in May. That was down from 218,000 in April.
  • Temporary hiring by the Census Bureau added another 411,000 jobs.
  • The unemployment rate fell to 9.7 percent from 9.9 percent."
"New claims for jobless benefits rise sharply," AP, Alan Zibel, 6/17/10. via mention on Mark Levin show. I had to go through many articles to find one that did not have editorial images added of someone interviewing for an actual job to soften the message of the news. One article had a huge picture of an odious republican (Boehner) making one of his usual meaningless soundbites. ed.

  • via mention on Michael Savage show, wondering why media today won't question government. Why, for example, were we not allowed to see blown out brains of US citizens murdered by an Islamic Army doctor? And constant news stories about lack of investigation into negligence that allowed this mass murder to happen? Answer: media and government are on the same side against the people.

Off-the-record lunch today with Obama media partners-Calderone

***6/17: "Obama held an off-the-record lunch Thursday at the White House with several prominent political writers and pundits: the Washington Post's Eugene Robinson, the Wall Street Journal's Jerry Seib, the New York Times' Gail Collins and MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. (Arianna Huffington was also invited, but according to her own White House reporter, she couldn't attend because of a scheduling conflict.)

  • Thanks again to the GOP for giving us Obama. And they would do it again. Scott Brown apparently is to have a special meeting with him which will no doubt entail cap and trade. A scam against ordinary Americans dreamed up in palaces and back rooms around the world and won't even help the environment. Scott, if you vote for it, your career in the Senate may be very short, just a guess. ed.
