"Now I have heard everything. The Republican Party is struggling to regain ground in November and what happens? Former Republican Senator from Kansas, Republican Senate Majority Leader and Republican Presidential Candidate Bob Dole donates to Charlie Crist's campaign. What?
Yes, Timothy Carney from the Washington Examiner found the below Federal Election Committee (FEC) filing dated August 11, 2010 showing Dole giving $1,000 to Crist. So, what is going on here?
As Timothy explains Bob Dole is now a health sector lobbyist and Dole actively promoted Obamacare passage in 2009. Sounds like Charlie's support for Obama's stimulus bill, doesn't it?
Timothy in an October 9, 2009 article [link now inactive, doc. here: dole to crist donation.gif] pointed out:
"Dole made news in Kansas City Wednesday [October 7, 2009] by calling on his party to back Democratic health-care reform bills currently before Congress, calling health-care reform, "one of the most important measures members of Congress will vote on in their lifetimes."
Dole is a lobbyist at the downtown firm Alston & Bird, where his clients include the National Association for Home Care and Hospice. The Association pays Alston & Bird $30,000 per month to lobby Congress and the administration on "issues in health reform relating to home health & hospice," according to Alston Bird's second-quarter 2009 lobbying report."...
Charlie Crist has done more to harm the Republican Party of Florida than any single politician, Democrat or Republican, in its history. In Sarasota County alone ninety-five percent of the big Republican donors have jumped ship to join Charlie. Why? Follow the money. They are betting if Charlie wins, they win with even more backroom power and government deals. If you quickly scan Crist's FEC filings to date you will see trial lawyers, healthcare lobbyists and construction companies galore.
I can envision the Democrat TV commercial now - President Obama $250,000 a year, Bob Dole $360,000 a year, Charlie Crist - priceless.
I await a reply from Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele on this great news. At least Jim Greer, former Florida Republican Party Chairman, is getting his $9,500 campaign donation to Crist back to help fund is legal defense on six felony charges.
