Democrats are party of the rich in Congress. Of 10 richest per capita districts, 8 are represented by Democrats-AP

3/31/14, "Party of the rich: In Congress, it's the Democrats," AP, by Stephen Ohlemacher

"Republicans are the party of the rich, right? It's a label that has stuck for decades, and you're hearing it again as Democrats complain about GOP opposition to raising the minimum wage and extending unemployment benefits.

But in Congress, the wealthiest among us are more likely to be represented by a Democrat than a Republican. Of the 10 richest House districts, only two have Republican congressmen. Democrats claim the top six, sprinkled along the East and West coasts. Most are in overwhelmingly Democratic states like New York and California.

The richest: New York's 12th Congressional District, which includes Manhattan's Upper East Side, as well as parts of Queens and Brooklyn. Democrat Carolyn Maloney is in her 11th term representing the district.

Per capita income in Maloney's district is $75,479. That's more than $75,000 a year for every man, woman and child. The next highest income district, which runs along the southern California coast, comes in at $61,273. Democrat Henry Waxman is in his 20th term representing the Los Angeles-area district.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco district comes in at No. 8.

Across the country, Democratic House districts have an average per capita income of $27,893. That's about $1,000 higher than the average income in Republican districts. The difference is relatively small because Democrats also represent a lot of poor districts, putting the average in the middle.

Democrats say the "party of the rich" label is more about policies than constituents.

During the 2012 presidential election, Republican nominee Mitt Romney declared, "We're not the party of the rich. We're the party of the people who want to get rich."

The famously wealthy Romney also uttered a more famous quote about the 47 percent of Americans who pay no federal income tax.

"My job is not to worry about those people," Romney said in a secretly taped speech at a private fundraiser. "I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

In the election, Romney carried only one income group: people making $100,000 or more, according to exit polls. But when it comes to Congress, the rich districts like their Democrats.

True opponents of Republican Party are Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Karl Rove and George Bush, not lib. Democrats. Most important political battle in US isn't Repub. v Dem., is inside GOP-Viguerie

.
March 30, 2014, "Richard Viguerie: ‘Our true opponents are Mitch McConnell, John Boehner’," Daily Caller, Scott Greer

Ted Cruz
"Perhaps no other person has spent more time within the conservative movement and guided its development than Richard Viguerie. As a pioneer of direct mail fundraising, one of the original founders of Young Americans for Freedom and as prolific political fundraiser, Viguerie has been involved in the conservative movement for over 50 years.

But his experience and involvement within politics has led him to a stunning conclusion.

“Conservatives haven’t had a lot of victories in the last 100 years,” Viguerie told The Daily Caller Friday.

The political fundraiser has a new book  coming out, “Takeover: The 100-Year War for the Soul of the GOP and How Conservatives Can Finally Win It,” that argues there’s a civil war going on in the GOP — and conservatives have lost many of the battles.

He defines conservatives  by their desire “to go back to a government that lives within the constitution — that does limit the power and scope of government.”

In his book, Viguerie argues that liberal Democrats are not the real adversaries of small-government inclined conservatives, but it’s establishment Republicans — like John Boehner — who are capable of pushing through government expansion, hurting the party at the polls.

“Our true opponents are Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Karl Rove, and George Bush. They’re the ones who have been engaged in a massive expansion of government and the American voters don’t like them,” “Whenever they are the face of the opposition to the Democrats, the Republicans almost always lose on the national level. It is the most important political battle in America and it’s not between Republicans and Democrats — it’s inside the Republican Party. And for the most part, conservatives have been losing.”

But in his opinion — outside of  a few political victories, cutting taxes and other fiscal reforms — his side of the Republican party has lost on the cultural war front and have not been able to affect change thanks to the predominance of liberalism in cultural institutions.

“We’ve lost more than we’ve gained… It’s for many reasons and a major reason is that the leadership of almost every institution in America is arrayed against the conservatives’ views and values.”
Viguerie believed that big business, educational institutions and Hollywood all contribute to an environment where a predominantly liberal viewpoint holds power in the country.

The political activist calls for the creation of “third force” groups that would dedicate themselves to niche issues and broaden the range of views within the conservative movement and  new leaders to take charge of the GOP.

“Conservatives are like the biblical Jews who had to wander through the desert for 40 years until that generation of flawed leaders had passed from the scene. We’re not going to get to the political promise land unless we get new leaders,” Viguerie said. ”We’ve done well with less taxes, balancing the budget, smaller government, etc. But it’s not going to lead to a permanent governing coalition in America, so we need to add many more issues to our platform.”

He does believe that the current GOP is more conservative now than it was during Reagan’s time — citing the fact that no mainstream candidate of the party can run on a pro-choice agenda amongst other issues that are more in line with his definition of a conservative agenda.

The number one mistake that conservatives have made over the last 30 years is becoming an appendage of the Republican party,” Viguerie believes.

But he now feels that many leaders of the party, such as Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, are no longer fettered to the party and he sees this as a positive development for his side of the GOP.

Viguerie writes in his book that this development bodes well for his side of the party and that there are several new issues that conservatives can get out front on and attract new voters, such as criminal sentencing reform.

We need to identify lots of new issues and the reform of the criminal justice system is going to be a major issue in 2016. The left cannot lead on this issue — it is a major, major problem,” Viguerie said." image of Ted Cruz via Daily Caller. via Free Rep.

Sultan of Brunei enacts Sharia law including dismemberment of limbs and stoning to death, says needed as a "firewall" against globalization, especially the internet-UK Independent

3/29/14, "Concern as Brunei brings in system of Islamic law with punishments that include the dismemberment of limbs and stoning to death," UK Independent, Andrew Buncombe

One of Sultan of Brunei's cars
"The Sultan of Brunei, one of the world’s wealthiest rulers and a close ally of Britain, will this week oversee his country’s transition to a system of Islamic law with punishments that include flogging, the dismemberment of limbs and stoning to death.

The 67-year-old absolute monarch declared last year that he wanted to introduce a full sharia system in his oil-rich nation and warned critics who took to social media sites to complain that they could be prosecuted using the new laws.

The decision to introduce sharia and reintroduce the death penalty has been condemned by NGOs and legal rights campaigners, who say the new rules will breach international laws. It has also triggered alarm among some of Brunei’s non-Muslim communities, who will also be subject to some of the rulings.

The development could put pressure on Britain to rethink its close relationship with Brunei, a former colony. A British regiment based in the country – the last surviving UK regiment stationed in East Asia – is paid for entirely by the Sultan.

In a letter to Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) said it deplored the new rules, adding that, if implemented, they would lead to serious human rights violations. “Brunei has not implemented the death penalty for years, so it came as quite a surprise that the new law has reintroduced it,” said the ICJ’s Emerlynne Gil.

The Sultan of Brunei says he wants to set up a ‘firewall’ against globalisation. Brunei is two-thirds Muslim and has long implemented some sharia, mainly for civil matters such as marriage. But last year the Sultan, who is said to be worth £24bn and lives in a 1,788-room palace, announced a plan to introduce full Islamic law.

Offences include insulting the Prophet Mohamed, drinking alcohol, getting pregnant outside of marriage and “sodomy”. The latter will be punishable by stoning.

“It is because of our need that Allah the Almighty, in all his generosity, has created laws for us, so that we can utilise them to obtain justice,” the Sultan said at the time.

It is unclear precisely what is motivating the Sultan, who also serves as the country’s prime minister and assumed the throne in 1967. But in a speech in February to mark the country’s National Day holiday, he claimed the system of an absolute Islamic monarch acted as a “strong and effective firewall” against the challenges of globalisation. He referred specifically to the internet.

He claimed that there were those, both in and outside Brunei, which last year chaired the Association of South-East Asian Nations (Asean), who had been challenging his plans and who wanted to see “internal turmoil”. He added: “These parties, it seems, have attempted to mock the king, the Islamic scholars and sharia. They are using the new media, such as blogs, WhatsApp and so on, which are not just accessed by locals but also by those overseas.”

The speech by the Sultan – who for many years was involved in a high-profile legal battle with his brother, a playboy accused of misappropriating £9bn of government assets and who reportedly owned a yacht called Tits – has had the impact of silencing many who might publicly speak out against the move.

Yet there are concerns, especially among the minority communities. There are around 30,000 Filipino citizens in Brunei, many of them Catholic, and the Philippine ambassador to Brunei, Nestor Ochoa, recently held a meeting at which he warned his countrymen about the implications of the new laws.

Father Robert Leong, a Catholic priest in Brunei, said there were concerns that baptisms of newborn babies could breach the new rules, which prohibit the “propagation of religion other than Islam to a Muslim or a person having no religion”. He said that the law was being introduced in three phases, with the harshest punishments, including the death penalty, being phased in over two years from Tuesday. There will be no baptisms. There is not a lot we can do about it. We will have to wait and see what happens,” he said.

Britain granted independence to Brunei in 1984, but has maintained a close relationship with the country. A 1,000-strong regiment of the British Army, the Royal Gurkha Rifles, has been located there since the late 1950s and in 1962 stepped in to quell a rebellion against the Sultan’s father. The regiment is paid for by the Sultan. The British Army also runs a jungle warfare training school in the small nation. A government spokesperson said: “Ministry of Defence discussions are ongoing with the Bruneian authorities to clarify any impact on UK forces.”

Royal Dutch Shell, an Anglo-Dutch multinational, also runs a major operation there as a joint venture with the Brunei government.

A briefing document published last year about defence and security opportunities in Brunei by the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills said Brunei invested “a significant proportion of the country’s wealth through the City of London”. It said the British Armed Forces garrison was a linchpin of  UK-Brunei relations.

The Government’s goal is to retain a dominant position in these key areas, and to maximise our share of influence as Brunei diversifies its economy and puts increasing emphasis on regional partners like Asean and China,” it said. “As it does so, Brunei will also provide a UK-friendly window into the key growth area of South-east Asia.”

The Sultan has been married three times. He remains married to his first wife, but he divorced his second, a one-time airline stewardess, in 2003 after 21 years. He divorced his third wife, a former TV reporter, in 2010 after five years. Both ex-wives were stripped of their royal titles.

Stories of his wealth abound. It was reported that, while playing polo with Prince Charles on one occasion, he had his boots delivered by helicopter to the polo field.

The Brunei government did not respond to queries and the Brunei High Commission in London failed to answer questions from The IoS. However, earlier this year, Brunei’s most senior Muslim cleric claimed that those criticising the new rules did not understand them, according to a report in The Brunei Times.

Dr Ustaz Hj Awg Abdul Aziz Juned said in a lecture in London: “Not even a day after the law was announced, human rights groups on social media commented that the steps taken by the Brunei government to implement the law was out of date and not modern.”

Sharia explained

What is sharia?

Sharia is the Islamic legal system that derives from the Koran, the example of the life of the Prophet Mohamed and “fatwas”, which are the rulings of Islamic scholars.  Different schools of thought exist, resulting in different interpretations.

What does it cover?

While Western law confines itself predominantly to crime and civil matters, sharia is a guide to help Muslims understand how they should lead every aspect of their lives. This ranges from deciding whether to enter a bar with someone wanting to drink alcohol to the punishments for theft or for criticising the Koran. Its treatment of women is particularly controversial. Judgements have banned the holding of property once married, enabled beatings for insubordination, and required a husband’s consent to divorce.

Where is it used?

Mauritania, Sudan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Maldives, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Nigeria all apply sharia. Some states, including UAE, Jordan and Egypt, use some form of sharia in their judicial system." via Lucianne

Mark Levin: GOP won't grow appeal with ‘embarrassing’ public pandering to casino owner Adelson

3/30/14, "Mark Levin: GOP Will Not Grow Appeal With ‘Embarrassing’ Pander To Adelson," Jen Kuznicki

"Mark Levin penned a quick facebook note about the sucking up going on in Las Vegas
by Republican Presidential hopefuls this weekend, at a gathering of a couple hundred wealthy Jewish donors, including Sheldon Adelson.
Frankly, this is embarrassing.
The GOP will not broaden its appeal with this kind of odd public pandering to a casino owner by Bush, Christie, Walker, Bolton and Kasich. “
Levin then linked to the Washington Post story, “Governors Christie, Walker and Kasich woo billionaire Sheldon Adelson at Vegas event,” in which three Governors are featured, Scott Walker, Chris Christie, and John Kasich of Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Ohio respectively.

Officially, the governors were in Las Vegas to address the spring leadership meeting of the Republican Jewish Coalition, which has long promoted a staunchly pro-Israel and interventionist foreign policy. But their political objective was to build relationships with potential benefactors who could bankroll future campaigns.
The biggest draw was Adelson, who hosted the conference at the Venetian, his sprawling and flashy casino hotel. Adelson and his wife, Miriam, spent more than $93 million in the 2012 elections and have signaled they will spend heavily in the next presidential campaign.”"

Murderer on Navy guided missile destroyer in Virginia was recently granted security credential by United States TSA despite long criminal record including manslaughter conviction

.
Seven months after another federally credentialed individual entered a Navy Yard in DC and murdered 12:

3/29/14, "Navy base shooter got security credential this year," Virginian-Pilot, Mike Hixenbaugh via Stars and Stripes

"The man who drove a semi-truck onto Norfolk Naval Station before killing a sailor received his transportation worker credential within the past few months, a source close to the investigation said Friday.

The detail comes a day after the Navy identified Jeffrey Tyrone Savage as the man at the center of its investigation into the shooting aboard the guided missile destroyer Mahan on Monday.

Savage, 35, has a long criminal record, including convictions for selling drugs and manslaughter, but family members said they believed the man who grew up in Portsmouth had finally begun to turn his life around after years in and out of prison.

They pointed to Savage's marriage last year to a long-time girlfriend and his efforts over the past several months to start a new career as a commercial truck driver.

"We had seen a change in Jeffrey," said Rena Duffie, a cousin who lives on Virginia's Eastern Shore.

"When we looked at him, we didn't see the old Jeffrey anymore. We saw a man who loved his wife and had committed himself to being a good father and providing for his family. We thought the old Jeffrey was gone."

The family is asking many of the same questions investigators are asking. What was Savage doing on the naval base late Monday? What prompted him to park his truck near pier 1 and climb aboard a warship? Why did he wrest control of a guard's gun and kill a man?

The Navy also wants to know how Savage managed to breach at least two security checkpoints.

Savage used his Transportation Worker Identification Credential to drive through Gate 5 and showed the security credential again to get onto Pier 1. But the card alone should not have been enough to get past either entry control point.

Savage's truck was owned by Majette Trucking in Portsmouth. He regularly worked for Rail Port Services in Chesapeake. Neither company would talk to reporters Friday.

Sources said Savage had become a regular in the security line at Norfolk International Terminals, but he rarely if ever delivered or picked up freight from the naval station.

To do that work, he relied on the same Transportation Worker Identification Credential he used to get into Norfolk Naval Station. His TWIC card was issued in 2014 by the Transportation Safety Administration, which administers the program. It is good for five years.

Savage would have had to pass a background check to receive the card, which allows unescorted access to secure ports and military installations. Manslaughter is not listed among the list of offenses that might disqualify someone from receiving the credential.

Efforts to reach TSA Administrator John Pistole and the agency’s public affairs director, LuAnn Canipe, were unsuccessful. All questions were referred to the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees TSA. DHS deferred questions to a Pentagon spokeswoman, who replied saying only DHS or TSA could answer questions about the TWIC program.

U.S. Sen. Mark Warner expressed “grave concerns” over the incident. In a letter dated Friday to Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Warner asked for briefings on the security breach and the status of the TWIC program.

The security breach came seven months after a civilian shot and killed 12 people and wounded four others at the Washington Navy Yard. That attack spurred the Defense Department to recommend changes to base security procedures “yet seven months later, another violent incident on a Navy base led to loss of life perpetrated by individuals who had federal credentials allowing them base access,” Warner wrote.

Navy officials said Friday they've ordered no official changes to base security procedures in light of the security breach.

By policy, TWIC cards are not enough to gain unescorted access to any Navy base. Navy officials say drivers also must have a verifiable reason for entering the base. They said Savage did not.

At Norfolk Naval Station, a delivery driver using a TWIC card must first go to a vehicle inspection area just outside the base, where trucks are examined and visitors must show proof of official business, such as a bill of lading or manifest. A driver is then issued a temporary visitor pass and proceeds to the gate.

Drivers with TWIC cards who are not making deliveries should go to a separate pass office where they must give a reason for their visit. The pass office is supposed to verify that and run the driver's name through the National Crime Information Center, a computerized index of criminal justice information such as outstanding warrants."

China now world's most dependent on foreign oil, Saudi Arabia its biggest supplier, US now major oil exporter, US fuel exports up 173% 2005-2013, China fuel prod. only a third of US-EIA

.
3/24/14, "China is now the world’s largest net importer of petroleum and other liquid fuels," EIA

"In September 2013, China's net imports
of petroleum and other liquids exceeded those of the United States on a monthly basis, making it the largest net importer of crude oil and other liquids in the world. The rise in China's net imports of petroleum and other liquids is driven by steady economic growth, with rapidly rising Chinese petroleum demand outpacing production growth.

U.S. total annual petroleum and other liquids production is expected to rise 31% between 2011 and 2014 to 13.3 million barrels per day, primarily from tight oil [shale] plays. In the meantime, Chinese production will increase at a much lower rate (5% over this period) and is forecast to be only a third of U.S. production in 2014.

On the demand side, China's liquid fuels use is expected to reach more than 11 million barrels per day in 2014, while U.S. demand hovers close to 18.9 million barrels per day, well below the peak U.S. consumption level of 20.8 million barrels per day in 2005. U.S. refined petroleum product exports increased by more than 173% between 2005 and 2013, lowering total net U.S. imports of petroleum and other liquids.

China has been diversifying the sources of its crude oil imports in recent years as a result of robust oil demand growth and recent geopolitical uncertainties. Saudi Arabia continues to be the largest supplier of crude oil to China and in 2013 provided 19% of China's 5.6 million barrels per day. Because production levels from Iran, Libya, and Sudan and South Sudan dropped since 2011, China replaced the lost shares of crude oil and other liquids imports from these countries with imports from

Oman,
Iraq,
the United Arab Emirates,
Angola,
Venezuela, and

Jeb Bush encouraged traffickers and child abuse by praising as "risk takers" those who face rape and murder trying to break our border and our home. 370 child "risk-takers" found abandoned in Bush's beloved hell hole Mexico in one week

Jeb Bush: "People who come here legally and illegally are the risk takers, said Bush. “If you’re living in a rural area of Guatemala and you come, you’re a bigger risk taker than those who stay.” 3/21/14

3/29/14, "Mexico finds 370 abandoned immigrant children," Reuters, Mexico City

"In one week, 370 immigrant children, most of them from Central America, were found abandoned in Mexico, after traffickers promised to take them to the United States but left them to their own devices after being paid thousands of dollars, authorities said.

Almost half of them, 163 children under the age of 18, were found traveling alone, Mexico's National Migration Institute (INM) said in a statement.

Each month, thousands of immigrants, mostly from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, attempt to emigrate to the United States, crossing several borders in the process, despite the threat from drug gangs that kidnap, murder and rape women.

The children told federal migration agents that their 'guides' abandoned them after accepting $3,000 to $5,000 in payments, INM said.

The children and young people, who came from three of the poorest countries in Central America, were found between March 17 and 24, in 14 different states in Mexico.

"The majority of the children showed signs of extreme fatigue, foot injuries, dehydration and disorientation whereby they didn't know where they had been abandoned," INM said.

Many immigrants are able to get to the U.S. and then entrust their children to the traffickers who pay large sums of money for them.

In the week the children were found, a total of 1,895 immigrants from various countries were detected in Mexico from countries as far away as Somalia, Japan and Syria, among others."

"I would personally like to castrate every Male Conservative Christian so that they have NO reproductive rights," she said, using the hashtag "#HobbyLobby."

She also expressed her hatred of Christians in a tweet calling conservative Christians "scumbags," claiming they are "really trying" her patience.

"Why can't Agent Orange be legal?" she asked.

In another tweet, Levites said she would pay for Hobby Lobby's David Green to be castrated.

She went so far as to advocate violence on Green, proclaiming she would purchase a saw from Home Depot to cut off Green's male organ so she can "shove it up his a**."

"Scratch a reactionary leftist, find the fascist thug writhing underneath," one person said in response to Levites' violent rhetoric.

Another person schooled Levites, reminding her that Hobby Lobby "covers 16 types of birth control." Oddly enough, Levites' Twitter feed features a picture of the comedian wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the phrase "I love haters," using a heart symbol.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court heard arguments in the case involving Obamacare's contraception mandate.

Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., a craft chain based in Oklahoma, and Conestoga Wood Specialties Corp., a Pennsylvania-based cabinet-making company, were at the center of those arguments.

Both companies say the mandate violates their owners' religious beliefs.

The Blaze said many reports seem to indicate the justices appeared "to sway in support of the plaintiffs."

“Majority of #SCOTUS justices appear likely to rule firms have right to religious claims, but ruling on merits unclear,” Reuters said, while the Associated Press said the court “seems divided” on the issue.

UK NHS male nurse killed 11 patients, only 3 being called murder. He deliberately poisoned 18, 8 of whom died but aren't being called murder-BBC

.
Stepping Hill Hospital is part of UK NHS system.

3/29/14, "Stepping Hill deaths: Nurse Victorino Chua charged with murder," BBC

"A nurse has been charged with the murder of three people following their deaths at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport in 2011.

Victorino Chua, 48, of Churchill Street, Heaton Norris, is also charged with 31 other offences including GBH and attempted poisoning.

He is accused of murdering patients Tracey Arden, 44, Arnold Lancaster, 71, and Alfred Derek Weaver, 83.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court later.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said Mr Chua faced one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, 22 counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and eight offences of attempting to administer poison, under the Offences Against the Person Act.

Investigators have been examining the contamination of various medical products, between June 1 and July 15, 2011 at the hospital.

They were first called to Stepping Hill following reports that saline ampoules and bags had been contaminated with insulin.

Eighteen patients were deliberately poisoned by contaminated products, according to GMP, and eight later died.

In addition to Ms Arden, Mr Lancaster and Mr Weaver, those who died were William Dickson, 82, Linda McDonagh, 60, John Beeley, 73, Beryl Hope, 70, and Mary Cartwright, 89.

Mr Chua, a father of two who is originally from the Philippines, was first arrested in January 2012 and was later released on bail.

GMP's Assistant Chief Constable Steve Heywood said: "Our thoughts continue to be with those people who were deliberately poisoned and their families.

"From day one, we made a commitment to those people, as well as the wider community, to thoroughly and robustly investigate what occurred.

"In close to three years we have conducted many painstaking inquiries and engaged with numerous medical experts.

"We are now at a point where we have charged Victorino Chua with a number of very serious offences."" image from BBC

US now supplies over 10% of world crude oil production, EIA.gov, 4Q 2013, up from 9% in 4Q 2012

.
"Tight oil refers to oil found within reservoirs with very low permeability, including but not limited to shale."

3/26/14, "Tight oil production pushes U.S. crude supply to over 10% of world total," eia.gov

"U.S. tight oil production averaged 3.22 million barrels per day (MMbbl/d) in the fourth quarter of 2013, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates. This level was enough to push overall crude oil production in the United States to an average of 7.84 MMbbl/d, more than 10% of total world production, up from 9% in the fourth quarter of 2012. The United States and Canada are the only major producers of tight oil in the world. In recent years, North American producers have developed technologically advanced drilling and completion processes to produce oil from tight formations.

Tight oil refers to oil found within reservoirs with very low permeability, including but not limited to shale. Permeability is the ability for fluid, such as oil and gas, to move through a rock formation. In February 2014, 63% of U.S. tight oil production came from two basins: the Eagle Ford in South Texas (1.21 MMbbl/d, or 36% of total U.S. tight oil production), and the Bakken Shale in North Dakota and Montana (0.94 MMbbl/d, or 28% of total U.S. tight oil production). Tight oil production in the United States represents 91% of all North American tight oil production, with the remaining 9% coming from Canada.

Canada and Russia were the only countries outside the United States that have produced commercial quantities of crude oil from tight formations:

  • In Canada, total tight oil production averaged 0.34 MMbbl/d in 2013, close to 10% of the 3.52 MMbbl/d of total Canadian crude oil production. This production was concentrated entirely in the country's western provinces of Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.
  • Russia is producing some oil through the use of hydraulic fracturing applied to tight formations, mainly in the West Siberia Basin. The 0.12 MMbbl/d of tight oil produced in Russia in 2013 accounted for 1% of its total oil production.
With industry conditions resembling those of North America, Australia and the United Kingdom have the potential to be among the next countries with commercially viable tight oil production. Outside these two countries, there are many examples of energy companies drilling exploratory wells and committing to large investment plans to develop tight oil formations. Many of these formations are located within basins that already produce conventional crude oil in Mexico, Russia, China, and Argentina. The Argentine national oil company YPF claimed in their third-quarter 2013 report the production of more than 10,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from Vaca Muerta in the Neuquin Basin, of which 7,887 barrels per day was crude oil." chart from EIA.gov

Calif. Democrat St. Senator Leland Yee accused of arranging deals for M16s and rocket launchers, tweeted at 1st anniv. of Newtown massacre, “I’m still shocked & prepared to take steps to stop gun violence.”-Howie Carr

.
3/28/14, "Carr: Democrats sinking in sea of charges," Howie Carr, Boston Herald

"Please, try not to let what I’m about to tell you destroy your faith in the integrity of the national Democratic Party.

Right now, a crime wave is sweeping the nation, and everyone in this out-of-control mob has a D after their names, even if most of the media are loath to report it.

If you are a low-information voter, a Globe subscriber, say, you have been told endlessly that the root of all evil in American politics is the Tea Party, better known in your moonbat media as“teabaggers.”

Oddly, however, the hacks rounded up over the last few days, well, let’s put it this way. They voted for Obama 100 percent. They think Obamacare’s great. How could they possibly be guilty as charged?

Last Friday, it was the speaker of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, Gordon Fox, who is (technically) black and who is definitely gay. Astonishingly, given the open racial-preference policies of the Obama regime, Fox’s Providence home and his State House offices were raided Friday by the FBI. He resigned Saturday. We still don’t know what the G-men have on him.

Next, the mayor of Charlotte, Patrick Cannon, another Democrat. He allegedly accepted $48,000 in bribes, some of which he took at the same Capitol Grill where payoffs were earlier accepted by jailbird ex-Speaker Jim Black. Black is not to be confused with ex-Speaker Jimmy Green, who likewise went to prison, for torching his tobacco burns.

Then there’s state Sen. Leland Yee of San Francisco. He used to go on Piers Morgan’s now-canceled CNN moonbat-fest and denounce the Second Amendment. He sent out tweets on the first anniversary of the Newtown massacre saying, “I’m still shocked & prepared to take steps to stop gun violence.”

Well, up to a point …

He, too, was arrested on Wednesday, for allegedly arranging deals to procure M16s and rocket launchers to be smuggled into California after being purchased from Muslim terrorists in the Philippines. Sen. Yee was working with a Chinese gangster named “Shrimp Boy.”

Apparently, Yee was much less concerned about the spread of weapons of mass destruction when he was talking to his fellow hoods than when he was pontificating on CNN: “People want to get whatever they want to get. Do I care? No, I don’t care. People need certain things.”

Like, rocket launchers.

Two-gun Yee is the third Democrat state senator to be arrested in California this week. Earlier it was state Sen. Rod Wright (perjury) and then Ron Calderon (bribery).

What a crime wave, in less than one week. So guess what most of the networks led with on their newscasts last night? The 5-month-old story of Gov. Chris Christie’s Bridgegate. Because it has one thing going for it that none of these other stories had, the only thing that matters to the corrupt American media.

Christie is a Republican." via Lucianne

The Debate is Over-the Climate Denier Mantle now rests on those who refuse to acknowledge accumulated facts

.
3/27/14, "The Denier Mantle Moves On," American Thinker, Charles Battig

"By their consistent refusal to acknowledge the accumulated facts of climate history, the mantle of “climate denier” has rightfully passed on to those who continue to promote misinformation and the unwarranted fear of manmade climate change.  It is time that the fabricators of fear be so labeled.

These new-age denialists have elevated their computer models above the real world of factual observations. Prof. Chris Folland, Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research set the standard for climate pseudo-science.The data doesn't matter. We're not basing our recommendations on the data. We're basing them on the climate models.”

"The models are convenient fictions that provide something very useful,”:  Dr. David Frame, Climate modeler, Oxford University. Indeed so, since the designer of the model can decide which “very useful” output is desired. The baking of a cake is a useful analogy.

The cook decides which ingredients to include in the recipe, the quantity of each, the final shape and name of the cake.  It could be named a lemon meringue, but if the lemon flavoring is omitted, it certainly will not be a valid lemon meringue.

Computer climate modeling has formed the basis for the continuing plethora of climate scare stories. The U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) calls them “scenarios,” but these computer fabrications are treated by the media, politicians, and general public more like predictions.  The common ingredient in the dozens of these General Circulation Models (GCM) used by the U.N. and its supporters is the assumed primary role of manmade carbon dioxide in driving Earth’s climate. They assert that the role of manmade carbon dioxide is the singular answer to making their climate models work, and thereby match some carefully chosen period of climate history.  Like the lemon in the cake, the prime role of fossil fuel carbon dioxide in driving the results of their climate computers is the one essential ingredient purposely baked into the computer/cake.  “Lemon in, lemon out.”

The full list of climate determinants (“cake ingredients”), their multiple interactions, relative temporal significance, and relative quantitative importance remain beyond current scientific understanding. Even the basic records of global temperature, surface or atmospheric, are in dispute because of faulty measurement technology, selective editing, missing data sites, and urban heat contamination.  Yet, manmade carbon dioxide has been computer preprogrammed to a predetermined prime importance as the main determinant of global temperature and climate change.

What does the Earth say about the climate computer models?  The real-world record documents no warming for the past 17 years, even as atmospheric carbon dioxide has increased about 9 per cent.

How bad were the computer models? A recent paper  found that “global warming over the past 20 years is significantly less than that calculated from 117 simulations of the climate by 37 models.”   Oops.

The deniers claim deadly sea level rise based on their computers.  The actual record shows that recent global sea level rise has decelerated 31 per cent. Oops.

Did the U.S. have an extreme weather year in 2013?  Tornadoes? The number of tornadoes in the US in 2013 was the lowest total since 2000 and the lowest total in several decades. Oops.

U.S. wildfires? The number of wildfires across the US in 2013 is the lowest it has been in the past ten years and the acreage involved is at the second lowest level in that same time period. (http://www.nifc.gov/)

U.S. extreme heat in 2013?  Extreme heat was down across the US for 2013. The number of 100 degree days across the country during 2013 was down, and may have been the lowest in about 100 years of records. (NOAA, USHCN reporting stations; through August).

U.S. hurricanes?  The U.S. is in the longest period since the Civil War Era without a major hurricane strike in the US (i.e., category 3, 4 or 5). The last major hurricane to strike the US was Hurricane Wilma in 2005.

So who are the climate deniers? The U.N.’s IPCC would be the presumptive leader, as it was founded to find the imprint of “human induced” climate change.  Other drivers of climate were largely dismissed unless they could be shown to support the pre-determined conclusion that there was a significant human fingerprint. This body is a political entity, not a scientific research organization. It is notable that even as earlier IPCC predictions of the impact of increasing  atmospheric carbon dioxide have proved false, and their magnitudes lessened in subsequent IPCC reports, the organization remains unrepentant in its claims of certainty.

Notable scientific organizations such as the World Meteorological Organization (present at the founding of the IPCC), the American Meteorological Society, and the American Physical Society have, at the leadership level, supported the premise of harmful climate change, primarily caused by manmade carbon dioxide. Their published papers are mostly skeptical of climate drivers not based on manmade carbon dioxide. Most recently, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has declared itself firmly in the skeptics’ camp by issuing its report to “Recognize Climate Change Risks.” The failure of climate modeling predictions is not acknowledged…the relevance is denied.

There are many individuals including Al Gore, science advisor John Holdren, and John Podesta who are skeptics of scientific reports which point out the disconnect between the manmade climate change mantra, and the actual physical record."...

[Ed. note: Al Gore and Podesta aren't the problem. This was never going to be stopped by Democrats. That leaves only one option--the so-called GOP leadership, Boehner and McConnell. These two men have had access to microphones every day for decades and have done nothing to stop the growth of imaginary CO2 terror into a $1 billion a day racket. GOP 'leadership' has in fact doubled down in the past year in their refusal to stop this fraud. When is AT going to stop blaming Democrats and address Boehner and McConnell as the single problem? Either one could end this in five minutes but they won't. If AT were concerned it could long since have made this a daily focus.].

(continuing): "Most notable is the lack of a definitive scientific report that can identify and quantify the impact of human carbon dioxide on global climate, and distinguish it from the natural background of climate change over time. The presumptive human influence signal is lost as background noise in the over-riding signal of normal climate variability.

The deniers of computer-generated climate failures are denying the real world."

=========================

By June 2013 as reported by Politico, GOP "leadership" policy on global warming became, "change the subject to jobs." The GOP clearly pivots, almost laughingly refuses to stop this decades long massive criminal theft of US taxpayers. They give Obama and his EU bosses space to continue drafting language to chain US taxpayers to a 2015 UN "climate treaty" and then to "post 2015" America which consists of enslavement to unelected, drooling UN criminals, parasites, thugs, mental cases, and their lazy relatives:

6/27/13, "GOP climate tack: Talk jobs, not science," Politico Pro, Darren Goode

"Republican leaders have a clear strategy for combating President Barack Obama’s climate agenda: Don’t talk about the science."...

[Ed. note: When Politico says "the science" it means something imaginary. There is actual science proving CO2 doesn't cause temperature increase but if Politico acknowledged it the multi-trillion dollar climate industry would go bankrupt along with at least one European monarchy].

(continuing): "Just as top Republicans have called for their party to rebrand itself by avoiding rhetoric that alienates minorities, young voters and women, key GOP lawmakers are trying to stay out of the long-running debate about whether global warming is real..."

==================

3/12/14, The LA Times is thrilled that Mitch McConnell pointedly refused to deny the existence of man-caused global warming climate terror. $1 billion a day was invested in the idea of "global warming" in 2012 alone. Pretty good for something that doesn't exist:

3/12/14, "How curbing climate change can prevent Russia from becoming a superpower," LA Times, Matthew Fleisher, guest blogger

"On Monday night, Democratic senators held an all night “talk-athon” on the Senate floor to bring increased attention to the issue of climate change. Predictably, their efforts were mocked by the Republican leadership.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky called the Democratic efforts "30 hours of excuses" for why "families are losing work because of government attacks on the coal industry."

Interestingly, McConnell didn’t deny that global warming existed. His argument was that fighting climate change isn’t worth the economic costs. That puts him in line with the majority of non-tea party Republicans on the issue -- 61 percent of whom, according to a recent Pew poll, agree that global warming is occurring."...

=====================

A Republican insider consultant quoted in 6/27/13, Politico article, "GOP climate tack: Talk jobs, not science," seems to suggest the lure of global warming for politicians:

"“If you really believe or accept that global warming is a legitimate, real, immediate threat, then there's no amount of money you wouldn't pay to avoid it" he said. “But if it’s not, then you can talk about the economics all you want.”"
